Nitoflor EU5 is a Fosroc high-strength self-smoothing epoxy underlay, supplied as a three-component system (resin base, resin hardener and fillers). Used to level concrete floors prior to laying epoxy screeds, toppings or coatings. Withstands chemical attack and impact loads with zero water absorption. Quick and easy to lay, forming a seamless, durable underlay surface. Adhesion exceeds the tensile strength of concrete.
Product Overview
Nitoflor EU5 is a high-strength self-smoothing epoxy underlay consisting of special resins and graded aggregates formulated to withstand chemical attack and impact loads. Supplied as a three-component system: resin base, resin hardener and fillers. When correctly laid, it provides a surface ready to receive applications of other Fosroc flooring systems such as Nitoflor FC140, FC150 and SL2000 epoxy toppings and coatings. Bond strength exceeds the tensile strength of concrete.

Application Guidelines
- Surface preparation — substrate must be sound, clean and dry; new concrete must cure at least twenty-one days
- Laitance removal — remove laitance on new concrete by grit blasting, scabbling or grinding
- Oil contamination — old floors require mechanical cleaning or chemical degreaser to remove oil
- Priming — generally not required on sound, untreated dry concrete
- Mixing — add hardener to base and mix until homogeneous, then slowly add fillers while mixing
- Application — spread to uniform thickness with squeegee or notched trowel; use spiked roller to eliminate air
- Overcoating time — allow specified curing time before applying topcoat
- Expansion joints — existing expansion joints must be carried through EU5 and subsequent toppings

Notes
- Substrate moisture content must not be excessive; no rising damp
- Must be applied within pot life after mixing; unused material must be discarded
- Avoid skin and eye contact with epoxy resin — wear gloves and eye protection
- Ensure adequate ventilation in the working area
- Clean tools immediately with suitable solvent
- Shelf life: twelve months in original unopened packs (per manufacturer)

How does EU5 differ from epoxy floor toppings?
EU5 is a self-smoothing epoxy underlay used to level uneven concrete floors and provide a smooth base for subsequent epoxy toppings (such as Nitoflor FC140, FC150) or self-levelling epoxy finishes (such as SL2000). EU5 is not a final wearing surface — it must be overcoated with the specified floor topping.
What thickness can be applied?
EU5 is designed for application in the range of one point five to five millimetres. For greater thicknesses, other products in the Nitoflor EU range are available. Contact us via WhatsApp for specific recommendations.
