At a Glance:

Nitoproof 800 is a Fosroc polyurethane liquid-applied waterproofing system comprising a primer (Nitoprime UR FS), membrane (Nitoproof 800 Membrane), and topcoat (Nitoproof UVR Topcoat). Once cured, it forms a seamless elastic waterproof layer that is UV-resistant and weather-resistant, suitable for permanent exposure without protective overlays. Offers crack-bridging capability, chemical resistance, and abrasion resistance. Certified for external roof fire exposure and root penetration resistance (per manufacturer). Suitable for rooftops, balconies, podium decks, walkways, and green roofs.

Product Overview

Fosroc Nitoproof 800 is a polyurethane-based liquid-applied waterproofing and crack-bridging protection system for new and existing structures. In exposed applications, the system comprises a primer, waterproofing membrane, and UV-resistant topcoat, providing a durable, elastic, impervious protective surface that is easy to clean and maintain. For below-ground applications, the Nitoproof 800 Membrane can be used as a standalone waterproofing layer.

Features

  • Seamless Waterproofing — Liquid-applied to form a continuous membrane with no joints or laps
  • Fast Application — Quick application minimises downtime
  • Easy to Maintain — Smooth surface for easy cleaning, inspection, and upkeep
  • Chemical Resistant — Good resistance to occasional spillage of motor oil, kerosene, diesel, and similar
  • Durable and Abrasion Resistant — Good wear resistance, suitable for pedestrian traffic
  • Slip-Resistant Option — Optional slip-resistant finish available
  • Colour Stable — UV-resistant and weather-resistant when used with topcoat, suitable for exposed applications
  • Multiple Colours — Wide range of colours available when used with topcoat
  • Fire Resistant — Fire-resistant performance when used with topcoat (per manufacturer)
  • Root Barrier — Membrane resists root penetration, suitable for green roofs
  • Crack Bridging — High elasticity bridges substrate cracks

Applications

  • Balconies and Terraces — Exposed waterproofing without protective overlays
  • Walkways — Waterproof and abrasion-resistant treatment for pedestrian areas
  • Flat Roofs — Weather-resistant exposed rooftop waterproofing
  • Podium Decks — Waterproof protection for podium and deck surfaces
  • Green Roofs — Root penetration resistance for rooftop planting
  • Below-Ground Structures — Basement waterproofing (membrane can be used standalone)

System Components

  • Nitoprime UR FS — Primer (for dry substrates)
  • Nitoflor DPM — Primer (for damp substrates)
  • Nitoproof 800 Membrane — Main polyurethane waterproofing membrane
  • Nitoproof UVR Topcoat — UV-resistant topcoat (required for exposed applications)

Certifications

  • Certified to BS 476-3: 2004 Class EXT.F.AA — External fire exposure test for roofs (per manufacturer)
  • Certified to CEN/TS 14416 — Resistance to root penetration (per manufacturer)

Packaging

Nitoproof 800 Membrane: 10KG pail

Notes

  • All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from contamination
  • New concrete must be adequately cured before application
  • Suitable for concrete, steel, timber, asphalt, roof tiles, slate, and felt substrates
  • Nitoproof UVR Topcoat is required for exposed applications
  • Below-ground waterproofing requires two coats of membrane
  • Wear protective gloves and eye protection during application; ensure adequate ventilation
  • For detailed application methods, coverage rates, and technical parameters, refer to the official product data sheet

FAQ

What is the difference between Nitoproof 800 and 600PF?

The key advantage of the 800 series is that with the topcoat applied, it can be permanently exposed — UV-resistant and weather-resistant without needing protective screed or tiles. 600PF must be covered with a protective layer and cannot be left exposed long-term. Use 800 where the roof needs to be walked on without tiling; use 600PF where tiles or screed will be laid over it for a more economical solution.

Can Nitoproof 800 be used on green roofs?

Yes. The Nitoproof 800 Membrane is certified for resistance to root penetration (per manufacturer), making it suitable for rooftop planting applications.

Can Nitoproof 800 be used in basements?

Yes. For below-ground applications, Nitoproof 800 Membrane can be used as a standalone waterproofing layer without the topcoat, but must be applied in two coats.
