Tile Grout

Summary:

Tile grout is the material used to fill joints between tiles after installation, providing waterproofing, mould resistance, and wear protection. Modern polymer-modified grouts far outperform traditional white cement grouting, effectively preventing water seepage and mould growth in joints. Classified under European standard EN 13888 into CG (cementitious) and RG (epoxy resin) categories, choose the appropriate grade for your application.

EN 13888 Tile Grout Classification

EN 13888 is the European standard for classifying tile grouts, divided into CG (cementitious) and RG (epoxy resin) categories. Numbers indicate performance level: 1 for standard, 2 for improved. Letter suffixes denote additional properties: W for reduced water absorption, A for high abrasion resistance, F for fast setting.

Why Choose CG2WA Class Grout?

CG2WA is the highest combined rating for cementitious grouts, meaning the product simultaneously achieves improved bond strength (2), reduced water absorption (W), and high abrasion resistance (A). Compared to basic CG1 grouts, CG2WA products offer superior waterproofing — joints are less prone to water seepage and mould growth, and the surface is more durable and resistant to powdering. For Hong Kong's humid environment, especially in bathrooms, kitchens, and terraces, CG2WA class or above is recommended. All cementitious grouts supplied by Wah Hing meet the CG2WA standard.

Grade Meaning Products at Wah Hing
