Product Overview

Nitobond AR is a single-component milky emulsion based on modified acrylic resins. It is resistant to hydrolysis and suitable for both internal and external applications. As an integral part of the Fosroc Renderoc concrete repair system, Nitobond AR serves a dual role: applied before repair as a bonding agent to enhance adhesion between repair mortar and the concrete substrate, and applied after repair as a curing membrane to prevent premature drying and ensure proper cement hydration.

Important Notes

• Do not dilute with water or solvents when used as a bonding agent
• Repair mortar must be applied while the primer is tacky but not dry; if primer dries, apply a second coat
• Not suitable where a substrate/repair barrier is required or where the repair area will remain permanently wet (use Nitobond EP instead)
• In harsh drying conditions, supplement curing membrane with wet hessian or polythene sheeting
• Protect from frost; do not store at low temperatures; discard if frozen — do not attempt to thaw
• Shelf life is six to nine months; store away from direct sunlight
• Non-toxic but slightly alkaline; avoid skin contact and wear gloves and protective clothing

What is the difference between Nitobond AR and Nitobond SBR?

Nitobond AR is an acrylic emulsion used primarily as a ready-to-use bonding agent and curing membrane for the Renderoc repair system. Nitobond SBR is a styrene-butadiene rubber latex used primarily for mixing with cement to create a slurry bond coat, and can also be used as a mortar modifier. Each serves a different purpose — select the appropriate Nitobond product based on the repair mortar's product data sheet recommendations.

Does the Nitobond AR curing membrane need to be removed before applying Dekguard?

No. Nitobond AR curing membrane can be overcoated directly with Dekguard anti-carbonation coatings without prior removal, saving both time and cost in the repair process.
