Product Overview

Nitocote EP403 is a two-component solvent-free epoxy resin coating supplied in pre-measured quantities for site mixing and use. It cures to provide a smooth, tough, and resistant finish. The product can be applied directly to both concrete and mild steel surfaces, and is particularly useful where concrete surfaces are damp and cannot be dried out. The cured film is resistant to distilled water, petrol, xylene, sulphuric acid solutions, saturated sodium chloride, and sodium hydroxide solutions. Available in light grey. Designed to be applied in two coats to achieve the required protective properties.

Important Notes

• Not suitable for application in low-temperature conditions
• Do not apply when relative humidity is excessively high
• Although applicable to damp concrete, there must be no standing or running water
• Must not be applied over existing coatings
• Not colour stable under direct sunlight — not suitable for environments requiring colour stability in exposed conditions
• Low temperature and high humidity curing may cause surface bloom, but this does not affect performance
• Limited working time after mixing; shorter at higher temperatures — apply promptly
• Clean tools with suitable solvent; cured material can only be removed mechanically
• Shelf life is twelve months when stored at appropriate temperature range
• Wear gloves, goggles, and protective clothing during application; ensure ventilation

Can Nitocote EP403 be used for potable water tanks?

Nitocote EP403 is designed for sewage, chemical, and marine environments and is not intended for potable water contact. For potable water tank waterproofing, choose products with drinking water certification such as Nitocote CM210 or Brushbond.

How does EP403 differ from water-based waterproof coatings?

EP403 is a solvent-free epoxy resin coating that cures to form a hard, impermeable chemical barrier with far superior chemical and abrasion resistance compared to water-based coatings. It is suited for harsh environments requiring chemical resistance (sewage works, chemical areas), but is not breathable. Water-based coatings like Brushbond and CM210 are better suited for general building waterproofing applications.
