Supercast SWX is a Fosroc grey elastomeric hydrophilic swellable waterstop paste, gun-applied for both sealing and adhesive functions. Can be used to bond Supercast SW waterstop strips or independently for waterstop sealing at complex detail locations. Swells on contact with water to create positive pressure against concrete joint faces. Fast curing, applicable to damp substrates, and fills irregularities in rough concrete surfaces. Maintains consistent swell performance through repeated wet/dry cycling.
Product Overview
Supercast SWX is a grey elastomeric water-swellable paste applied like a sealant. Its hydrophilic properties display good consistency in swell rate during repeated wet/dry cycling. On contact with water, the product expands to create positive pressure against the concrete joint faces, preventing the passage of water. Fast curing makes it suitable for emergency repairs and situations requiring early concrete placement.

Application Guidelines
- Surface preparation — remove loose debris, soil, moss and organic growth; can be applied to damp concrete but clear standing water and running water
- Application — cut nozzle tip, load into sealant gun, and extrude a continuous unbroken bead onto the substrate
- Concrete placement — allow adequate curing time before placing concrete
- Curing protection — protect from heavy rainfall during curing to prevent premature expansion

Notes
- Not suitable for expansion joints or joints subject to significant repetitive movements
- Must ensure sufficient concrete cover to accommodate swelling pressure
- Avoid pouring concrete directly onto the seal during placement
- Must not be used as a general building sealant
- Wear gloves and eye protection; use in well-ventilated areas
- Shelf life: nine months in original unopened packaging stored in cool, dry conditions (per manufacturer)

Which to choose: SWX or SW20?
SWX is a gun-applied swellable paste for flexible application at irregular shapes, pipe penetrations and complex details. SW20 is a pre-formed waterstop strip for long, straight construction joints. They are often used together: SW20 for primary sealing and SWX for detailing and bonding SW20 in place.
Can SWX be used on its own?
Yes. SWX can be used independently for waterstop sealing at complex locations such as pipe penetrations, around H-beams, precast segment joints and irregular positions. For long, straight construction joints, SW20 is recommended as the primary waterstop with SWX as supplementary.
