Dekguard E2000 is a Fosroc high-performance elastomeric protective coating system designed for atmospherically exposed reinforced concrete structures. Water-based formulation using a special pure aliphatic acrylic polymer. Provides excellent crack accommodation to bridge substrate cracking, effectively blocks carbon dioxide, chloride ions, oxygen and water while allowing water vapour to escape. UV-resistant and low dirt pick-up. Suitable for all structure types including coastal environments. Available in a wide range of colours. Used with Dekguard WB Primer silane-siloxane primer.
Product Overview
The Dekguard E2000 system comprises two components: a single-component penetrating silane-siloxane primer (Dekguard WB Primer) that forms a chemically-bonded hydrophobic barrier in the substrate, inhibiting water and waterborne contaminant passage while consolidating porous surfaces; and a single-component crack-accommodating pigmented coating (Dekguard E2000) based on a special pure aliphatic acrylic polymer that provides excellent crack accommodation, low dirt pick-up and rain protection. Both are water-based, ready for immediate site use, and can be applied by brush, roller or spray. Available in a wide range of colours.
Features
- Crack accommodation — bridges subsequent cracking in the substrate (per manufacturer)
- Excellent barrier — blocks carbon dioxide, chloride ions, oxygen and water
- Low dirt pick-up — special acrylic polymer minimises dust and dirt retention
- Breathable — allows water vapour to escape from the structure without trapping moisture
- UV resistant — withstands ultraviolet light exposure for long-term outdoor use
- Water-based — single component ready to use; tools clean with water
- Non-flammable — all system components are non-flammable (per manufacturer)
Applications
- Anti-carbonation protection of exposed reinforced concrete structures
- Structural anti-corrosion coating in coastal environments
- Protection of concrete surfaces at risk of subsequent cracking
- Bridges, flyovers and infrastructure exterior protection
- Building facade concrete protection and decoration
- Overall protective coating after concrete repairs (used with Renderoc series)
Application Guidelines
- Surface preparation — surfaces must be dry, clean, free from oil, loose particles, release oils and curing compounds; light grit-blasting recommended
- Blow hole filling — surfaces with blow holes must first be filled with Renderoc FC fairing coat
- Primer application — apply one coat of Dekguard WB Primer; allow to dry completely before top-coating
- Top coat application — apply one to two coats of Dekguard E2000 ensuring an unbroken coating
- Application methods — brush, roller or airless spray equipment
- Corner detailing — take special care at external corners and exposed protrusions to maintain coating continuity
Packaging
- Dekguard WB Primer: 20 litre tins
- Dekguard E2000: 20 litre drums
Notes
- Do not apply primer when substrate temperature is too low
- Do not expose to frost within a short period after application
- Do not apply in windy conditions or when rain is likely soon after
- Do not apply when relative humidity is excessively high
- Not suitable for areas subject to ponded water
- Wear appropriate protective equipment and ensure adequate ventilation
- Protect from frost during storage
- Shelf life: twelve months in original unopened packs (per manufacturer)
- For detailed application methods, coverage rates and technical parameters, refer to the official product data sheet
FAQ
How does Dekguard E2000 differ from regular exterior paint?
E2000 is a professional-grade elastomeric anti-carbonation protective coating. Beyond decoration, it provides structural protection by effectively blocking carbon dioxide and chloride ingress into reinforced concrete. Its crack-bridging capability maintains protection even when the substrate cracks, while remaining breathable. Standard exterior paints offer only decorative finish without these protective functions.
What primer is required?
Dekguard WB Primer, a silane-siloxane penetrating primer, is required. The primer forms a hydrophobic barrier within the substrate and stabilises the surface — an essential part of the system's protective performance. The primer must be fully dry before top-coating.
