Application Instructions
Substrate Preparation
- Surface must be clean, sound and properly cured
- Remove all loose materials mechanically, preferably with a wire brush
- Iron and steel surfaces should be free of rust
Application
- For porous substrates, apply first coat diluted with 10% water as a primer layer; allow drying time of more than 3 hours
- Apply a first coat (0.8–1.0 kg/m²) of SikaCoat Plus by brush or roller
- Ensure the membrane is thoroughly embedded and smooth out all air pockets and creases; overlaps of adjacent membrane must be a minimum of 50 mm
- Apply a second coat (0.8–1.0 kg/m²) while the first coat is dry, to fully saturate the membrane from both sides
- Protect the finish coat from rain until dry
Important Notes
- Two or more thin coats are highly recommended rather than one thick coat
- Ambient and surface temperatures must be below +35°C during application
- Do not attempt application if rain is imminent
- Avoid any ponding water on top of SikaCoat Plus
- Allow minimum 3 days curing for cementitious substrates (moisture < 25%, pH < 11)
- Shelf life is only 12 months — check the production date
- Store in original, unopened, sealed packaging at +5°C to +30°C in dry conditions, protected from direct sunlight
- Remove uncured material with water; cured material can only be removed mechanically

FAQ
What surfaces is SikaCoat Plus suitable for?
It is suitable for clean, sound, properly cured surfaces including new plaster, external walls, parapet walls and sloped roofs. Cementitious substrates must be cured for at least 3 days, with moisture below 25% and pH below 11. Iron and steel surfaces must be free of rust.
Can it be used on flat roofs?
The TDS specifies sloped roofs only, with light foot traffic only permitted. For flat roof waterproofing solutions, please enquire about other Sika waterproofing products.
How long until it is waterproof after application?
Each coat requires more than 3 hours drying time depending on ambient conditions. Two thin coats are recommended. The finished surface must be protected from rain until fully dry.
Can it be diluted with water?
Only the first coat on porous substrates should be diluted with 10% water to serve as a primer layer. Subsequent coats should be applied undiluted at full concentration.
