Sikafloor 161 — Epoxy Primer, Levelling Mortar, Intermediate Layer and Mortar Screed
Sikafloor 161 is a 2-part, low viscosity, multipurpose epoxy resin. It can be used as an epoxy primer, levelling mortar binder, intermediate layer, and mortar screed for internal and external applications. It is the designated primer for Sikafloor 263SL and Sikafloor 264 floor coating systems.
Key Features
- Low viscosity with good substrate penetration
- Good bond strength
- Short waiting times between coats
- Multi-purpose — primer, levelling mortar binder, intermediate layer, and mortar screed
- Solid content approx. by weight and volume
- LEED v4 EQc 2 compliant (Low-Emitting Materials)
Applications
- Priming concrete substrates, cement screeds and epoxy mortars — for low to medium absorbent substrates
- Primer for Sikafloor 263SL and Sikafloor 264 economic flooring systems
- Binder for levelling mortars and mortar screeds
- Intermediate layer underneath Sikafloor 263SL and Sikafloor 264
- Epoxy screed / repair mortar (15–20 mm layer thickness)

FAQ
What substrates is Sikafloor 161 suitable for?
It is suitable for concrete substrates and cement screeds, including low to medium absorbent surfaces. The substrate must be structurally sound, clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, and loose particles before application.
What is the difference between Sikafloor 161 and Sikafloor 156?
Sikafloor 156 is a solvent-based epoxy primer, while Sikafloor 161 is solvent-free (solid content approx. ) and more versatile — serving as primer, levelling mortar binder, intermediate layer, and mortar screed in addition to priming.
How much area does a 26 kg unit cover?
Coverage depends on the application and layer thickness. When used as a primer, consumption is relatively low; when used as a mortar screed (15–20 mm), quartz sand is added, reducing coverage per unit. Contact us for project-specific consumption estimates.
