Overview:
Mapei Ultramastic III is a ready-to-use dispersion tile adhesive (EN 12004 class D2TE, per manufacturer data) with excellent non-slip properties and extended open time, suitable for indoor and outdoor wall tiling as well as indoor floor tiling of all types of ceramic tiles.
Product Overview
Developed by Mapei in Italy, Ultramastic III is a water-dispersion (paste) tile adhesive that is ready to use straight from the bucket with no mixing required. Based on special acrylic resins, it features excellent thixotropic properties — tiles adhere immediately without slippage. Once cured, it offers outstanding flexibility and bonding strength, able to withstand vibrations and deformations in building materials. Especially recommended for flexible, deformable non-metallic substrates.
Key Features
Ready to use — no water or mixing required, apply directly from the bucket, saving preparation time
Non-slip — excellent thixotropic properties keep tiles stable immediately after placement on vertical surfaces
Extended open time — generous working time (per manufacturer data) for precise tile positioning
High flexibility — excellent deformability after curing, accommodates minor substrate movement and vibration
Wide substrate compatibility — suitable for plywood, gypsum board, painted surfaces and other special substrates
Easy application — white paste consistency, easy to trowel, tools clean with water
Applications
Indoor wall, floor and ceiling installation of all types of ceramic tiles and mosaics
Outdoor wall installation of ceramic tiles and mosaics
Bathroom and shower room walls and floors
Moisture-resistant plywood (wood substrates must be stable and moisture-proof)
Cement renders and concrete substrates
Precast or cast-in-place concrete walls
Gypsum plaster, gypsum board
Stable painted wall surfaces (paint must be firmly bonded and tiles must be absorbent)
Over-tiling on existing ceramic tiles (at least one surface must be absorbent)
Large-format tiles
Underfloor heating systems
Bonding of thermal and acoustic insulating panels
Not Suitable For
Permanently submerged areas (swimming pools, water features, etc.)
Substrates subject to rising damp
Non-absorbent tiles on non-absorbent substrates
Metallic substrates or non-moisture-stable wood substrates
Natural stone (especially light-coloured calcareous stone such as Carrara marble)
Packaging
16 kg plastic bucket
12 kg plastic bucket
5 kg plastic bucket
1 kg plastic container (12-piece pack)
Storage
Shelf life in original sealed packaging — refer to packaging label. Protect from frost.
Important Notes
Substrate must be sound, clean, and free from grease, wax and loose material
Cement substrates must be thoroughly dry with no rising damp
Gypsum surfaces do not require primer but must be dry and solid
Outdoor installations must be adequately protected from rain; drying time depends on weather and humidity conditions
Avoid application in very cold or damp weather
Wear protective gloves and goggles during application
For professional use only

FAQ
What is the difference between Ultramastic III and cement-based tile adhesives?
Ultramastic III is a dispersion (paste) tile adhesive that is ready to use without mixing with water. Cement-based adhesives come as powder and require water mixing. Dispersion products offer superior flexibility after curing, making them particularly suitable for substrates that require deformability (such as plywood and gypsum board), but they are not suitable for permanently submerged environments.
Can it be used on bathroom floors?
Yes, Ultramastic III is suitable for bathroom walls and floors. However, it must be fully cured before water exposure, and is not suitable for permanently submerged areas such as swimming pools.
Can I tile directly over existing tiles?
Yes, provided at least one surface (existing tile or new tile) is absorbent, and the existing tiles are firmly bonded. Refer to the product technical data sheet for specific conditions.
