Mapei Primer G

Product Overview

Primer G is a light blue liquid primer based on synthetic resin in water dispersion. Once dry, it forms a flexible, compact, shiny film on the substrate surface that effectively consolidates loose surfaces while improving the adhesion of levelling compounds, paint, wallpaper adhesives, tile adhesives, and render mortars. The product is non-flammable and can be safely used in enclosed or poorly ventilated environments.

• Enhanced Adhesion: Significantly improves the bond of levelling compounds, tile adhesives, paint, and wallpaper adhesives on various substrates
• Prevents Chemical Reactions: Creates an isolation layer between gypsum and cementitious substrates, preventing sulphate-aluminate reactions that produce ettringite and cause interface separation
• Evens Out Absorption: Reduces and standardises substrate water absorption rates, ensuring uniform curing of subsequent materials
• Reduces Air Bubbles: When used as a primer before self-levelling compounds, effectively reduces bubble formation and prevents over-rapid drying
• Non-Flammable: Safe for use in enclosed environments without special ventilation measures
• Very Low VOC: EMICODE EC1 Plus very low emission certified (per manufacturer data)

• Primer treatment on gypsum surfaces before installing ceramic tiles with cementitious adhesives

• Primer treatment on anhydrite screeds before applying cement-based products

• Inter-coat primer between smoothing compound layers
• Primer treatment on gypsum walls before wallpapering

Important Notes

• Primer G is not a waterproofing product — while it significantly reduces porosity and absorption, it does not provide waterproofing
• Not suitable for magnesium board substrates
• Not recommended for exterior applications or where rising damp is present
• Avoid over-application that forms a surface film; dilute with water as appropriate for substrate absorption
• Substrates must be clean, dry, and free from oil and loose parts
