Overview:

Sikaflex®-11 FC+ is a one-component, multi-purpose elastic polyurethane adhesive and sealant from Sika (i-Cure technology). A true 2-in-1 product — it bonds and seals in one step. Excellent movement capability with good adhesion to a wide range of construction materials (concrete, masonry, tiles, wood, metal, glass), mostly without primer. Suitable for indoor and outdoor joint sealing and component bonding.

Product Features

  • True 2-in-1 — functions as both adhesive and sealant (CE-certified bonding sealant)
  • Excellent movement capability — accommodates long-term repeated joint movement (ASTM C 719)
  • Very high elongation at break — effectively bridges cracks
  • Good adhesion to most substrates without primer
  • Good mechanical and weathering performance
  • Very low emissions — GEV-Emicode EC1PLUS, LEED v4 EQc 2 compliant
  • Wide service temperature range — withstands extreme hot and cold environments
  • Can be over-coated with water-based paints (compatibility test required first)

Applications

As an adhesive: Bonding various construction components and materials, including:

  • Concrete
  • Masonry
  • Reconstituted and cast stone
  • Tiles
  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Glass

As a sealant: Sealing vertical and horizontal joints, including:

  • Facade joints — curtain wall panel joints, precast element joints
  • Window and door perimeters — frame-to-wall joints
  • Expansion joints — building expansion joints
  • Pedestrian walkway joints — CE certified (EN 15651-4)
  • Indoor and outdoor use — suitable for both interior and exterior

Why Choose Sikaflex 11FC+

  • True 2-in-1 — bond and seal simultaneously, reducing the number of materials needed
  • Primer-free application — no primer pre-treatment needed on most common substrates, saving time
  • Dual CE certification — compliant with EN 15651-1 (facade joints) and EN 15651-4 (pedestrian walkway joints)
  • International standards — ASTM C920-11 Class 35 certified
  • Eco-friendly — very low emissions (EC1PLUS), LEED green building compliant, EPD environmental product declaration available
  • Extreme temperature tolerance — withstands Hong Kong summer heat and cold storage environments

Usage and Joint Design

Actual consumption varies depending on joint dimensions, substrate roughness, absorbency, and wastage. Joint width and depth design should follow the recommendations in the manufacturer\'s TDS. Curtain wall joints are generally designed with a width-to-depth ratio of 2:1; floor joints typically use a ratio close to 1:1.

Application Notes

  • Must be applied at suitable temperatures; see TDS for details
  • Do not apply during periods of significant temperature change (movement during curing affects sealing performance)
  • Always perform a small-area adhesion test before bonding or sealing
  • Not suitable for joints subject to permanent water immersion or water pressure
  • Not suitable for swimming pool joints
  • Not suitable for structural bonding
  • Not suitable for pedestrian traffic floor joints (contact Sika for alternative products)
  • Not suitable for asphalt, natural rubber, EPDM rubber substrates, or materials that may exude plasticisers, oils, or solvents
  • Not suitable for polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), or PTFE (Teflon) substrates
  • Not suitable for glazing or sanitary-grade sealing (use dedicated products)
  • When bonding glass, do not expose the adhesive bead to sunlight
  • Suspended loads require additional mechanical fixings
  • Uncured Sikaflex 11 FC+ must not contact alcohol-based products

Frequently Asked Questions

How good is the movement capability of Sikaflex 11FC+?

Movement capability is excellent (ASTM C 719), with very high elongation at break. Joints can withstand repeated movement without adhesion loss or cracking. For specific data, please refer to the manufacturer\'s TDS.

How long does Sikaflex 11FC+ take to cure?

Under normal temperature and appropriate relative humidity conditions, curing speed is moderate. Deeper joints take longer to cure, and curing slows down in low temperature or low humidity environments. For detailed curing times, please refer to the manufacturer\'s TDS.

Does Sikaflex 11FC+ require a primer?

Good adhesion to most common substrates (concrete, masonry, tiles, metal, wood) is typically achieved without primer. However, a small-area adhesion test is recommended before formal application. For reconstituted or cast stone substrates, please contact Sika Technical Services for confirmation.

Can Sikaflex 11FC+ be used in bathrooms or swimming pools?

Not suitable for swimming pools or joints subject to permanent water immersion. It can be used for general bathroom joints, but sanitary-grade sealants (such as silicone sealants) are usually more appropriate for shower enclosures and bathtub surrounds. Sikaflex 11FC+ should not be used for sanitary-grade sealing applications.
