Sika Ronacrete Ronabound Rapid Set Adhesive

Sika Ronacrete Ronabound Rapid Set Adhesive

Quick Summary:

Ronabond® Rapid Set Tile Adhesive is a two-component polymer reinforced cementitious tile adhesive for thin (3–6mm) or thick bed fixing of ceramic tiles and stones. Achieves ≥0.5 MPa tensile bond strength at just 6 hours, ideal for applications where downtime must be minimised. Conforms to EN 12004 C2FT.

Product Features

Ronabond® Rapid Set Tile Adhesive by Sika Ronacrete is supplied as a two-component product which, when mixed together, forms a polymer reinforced cementitious tile adhesive with outstanding adhesion and fast setting properties. It achieves initial bond strength within 6 hours, making it ideal for applications where downtime must be kept to a minimum. Suitable for fixing ceramic tiles, paving tiles, brick, slate, marble and stone to cement-based substrates on both internal and external faces, including areas exposed to constant dampness, mild acids or alkalines.

  • Prepacked dual-component (powder + liquid) for control and convenience
  • Simple to mix and easy to apply
  • Waterproof and water resistant
  • Superior high early tensile bond strength (≥0.5 MPa at 6 hours)
  • Conforms to EN 12004 C2FT adhesive standard
  • Low VOC
  • Slip resistance <0.5mm

Applications

  • Large Tiles & Stone — High strength bonding of large ceramic tiles, granite, marble and stones
  • Internal & External — Wall and floor tile installation on cement-based substrates
  • Shopping Arcades — Public areas including shopping streets and lobbies
  • Kitchens & Bathrooms — Kitchens, bathrooms, showers and constantly damp areas
  • Facades — External wall tile and stone installation
  • Swimming Pools — Areas exposed to constant immersion and mild acid/alkaline conditions

Why Choose Ronabond Rapid Set Tile Adhesive

The key advantage of Ronabond® Rapid Set Tile Adhesive is its fast setting property — achieving ≥0.5 MPa tensile bond strength within just 6 hours, significantly reducing downtime. The prepacked dual-component design ensures consistent mix ratios, while the polymer reinforced formulation maintains >1 MPa bond strength even after water immersion, heat aging and freeze-thaw cycling, making it suitable for demanding environments.

Application Method

  1. Substrate Preparation — Remove all debris, surface snots, loose material or mould release oil. Thoroughly saturate the substrate with clean, cold water
  2. Mixing — Pour the total contents of gauging liquid into the mixing vessel, then slowly add all the powder. Mix continuously for at least 3 minutes using an electric drill with paddle until a uniform homogeneous paste is achieved. Allow to rest for 2 minutes, then re-mix for 1 minute before use
  3. Application — Spread the adhesive onto the surface using a straight edged plastering trowel, then comb with a notched trowel to form ribs. Check surface tackiness with a finger before placing tiles. Set and tap tiles well into place, ensuring void-free contact
  4. Grouting — Ronafix® Colour Grout is recommended. Open joints are not recommended; contact Sika Technical Department if required
  5. Movement Joints — Form movement joints in accordance with BS 5385. Fill joints using Sikaflex® Joint Sealant
  6. Cleaning — Clean all tools with clean water immediately after use. Use a damp sponge to remove surplus adhesive from tile surfaces

Notes: Ambient air temperature must be above +5°C. Mixed adhesive must be used within 30 minutes and protected from direct sunlight. Do not attempt to dampen the applied adhesive to extend the open time, as this interferes with bond performance. Protect freshly applied material from freezing conditions and rain. Do not exceed the maximum layer thickness. All technical data is based on laboratory tests; actual values may vary. For detailed guidance, refer to the product data sheet or contact us via WhatsApp.

FAQ

How fast does Ronabond Rapid Set Tile Adhesive cure?

The product achieves ≥0.5 MPa tensile bond strength within just 6 hours, and >1 MPa at 28 days. This fast setting property makes it ideal for renovation and repair projects where downtime must be minimised.

What types of tiles can be fixed with this adhesive?

Suitable for ceramic tiles, paving tiles, brick, slate, marble and stone. Can be fixed to cement-based substrates for both internal and external applications, including constantly damp areas, swimming pools and building facades.

How long can the mixed adhesive be used?

The pot life after mixing is 30 minutes — the mixed adhesive must be used within this time. The open time (time after application before tiles can be placed) is over 10 minutes. Do not dampen the surface to extend open time.

What is the recommended layer thickness?

The recommended layer thickness is 3–6mm, suitable for both thin and thick bed fixing. Do not exceed the maximum thickness. Yield is approximately 1.2 kg powder/m²/mm.

What pack sizes are available?

Ronabond Rapid Set Tile Adhesive is available in 31.4 kg packs (25 kg powder bag + 6.4 kg liquid drum). Contact us via WhatsApp for pricing and ordering details. We offer collection from our Mong Kok store and delivery across Hong Kong.
