Overview:
Mapei Keraflex is an improved cementitious tile adhesive (EN 12004 class C2TE, per manufacturer data) with non-slip and extended open time properties, suitable for indoor and outdoor installation of all types of ceramic tiles, stone materials and mosaics on floors, walls and ceilings, including swimming pool tiling.
Product Overview
Developed by Mapei in Italy, Keraflex is an improved cementitious tile adhesive containing a high proportion of synthetic resins and special additives. When mixed with water, it forms an easily workable paste with high thixotropic properties — tiles will not slip on vertical surfaces, allowing top-to-bottom installation without spacer pegs. After curing, shrinkage is minimal, providing excellent bonding to all common construction substrates. Extended open time (per manufacturer data) enables precise installation over large areas.
Key Features
Improved C2 class — higher bonding strength than standard C1 (per manufacturer data), suitable for a wider range of tiles and substrates
Non-slip — excellent thixotropic properties, even heavy tiles stay firmly in place on vertical surfaces
Extended open time — generous working time for large-area installation
Low shrinkage — minimal shrinkage after curing, reducing risk of debonding
Low emissions — EMICODE EC1 R Plus certified (per manufacturer data), very low VOC emissions
Versatile applications — suitable for indoor and outdoor use, including swimming pools and heavy-duty floors
Applications
Indoor and outdoor floor and wall installation of all types of ceramic tiles (glazed, full-body, porcelain, terracotta, klinker, etc.)
Stone materials and all types of mosaics
Cement mortar rendered surfaces and cement screeds
Interior aerated concrete block walls
Gypsum and anhydrite surfaces (Primer G required)
Gypsum board
Underfloor heating systems
Interior painted walls (paint must be firmly anchored)
Over Mapelastic or Mapegum WPS waterproofing membranes
Tile-on-tile over existing flooring
Small-format tiles in swimming pools and basins
Heavy-duty floors
Spot-bonding insulating panels
Not Suitable For
Concrete substrates subject to high shrinkage
Walls and floors subject to strong movement or vibration (wood, fibre-cement, etc.)
Metal surfaces
Packaging
25 kg paper bags
4x5 kg carton boxes
Available in grey and white.
Storage
Store in a dry, cool place. Shelf life in original unopened packaging — refer to packaging label.
Important Notes
Substrate must be flat, sound, clean, and free from grease, dust and loose material
Cement substrates must be fully cured to avoid shrinkage after tiling
Gypsum and anhydrite substrates must be abraded and primed
For exterior large-format tiles or swimming pool tiling, use back-buttering to ensure full coverage
Protect from rain after application; curing time depends on weather and humidity conditions
Product contains cement — wear protective gloves and goggles during application

FAQ
What is the difference between Keraflex and Kerabond T?
Keraflex is C2TE class (improved), while Kerabond T is C1T class (standard). Keraflex offers higher bonding strength, longer open time, and a wider range of applications including porcelain tiles, swimming pool tiling and heavy-duty floors.
Can it be used for swimming pool tiling?
Yes, Keraflex is suitable for small-format tiles in swimming pools and basins. The pool must be allowed adequate curing time before filling with water — refer to the product technical data sheet for details.
Can I tile directly over existing tiles?
Yes (tile-on-tile), provided the existing tile surface is firmly bonded and stable. Refer to the product technical data sheet for detailed requirements.
